My 8 week course with Katie has been an eye opener to the simple things in life that I wasn’t fully appreciating or experiencing before.

Originally, I was recommend by my partner, to see Katie to help me to stop smoking. At first I was skeptical but very open to trying something knew. I always had in the back of my mind that I ought to stop. However hard i tried and however much i spoke about stopping or cutting down, i knew deep down that i wouldn’t unless, helped. I thought that i would give Katie and I can honestly say, she is incredible. I haven’t touched a cigarette since and have found it so easy and now, it doesn’t even feel like I ever smoked at all. This took one session.
The reason for my writing you this testimonial is because, after my step father passed away suddenly that i found my temper rising in a nano second to the point where i would be fine one second and flip the next. so much so, that one evening my temper escalated so fast, i found my foot had gone through my kitchen door in anger. i was worried that i was capable of such dangerous things. This wasn’t me and it certainly wasn’t the person that i wanted to become. I thought of Katie straight away and I signed up for her Mindfulness 8 Week Course and loved it.

I found out about Mindfulness meditation through a support group I attended in Birmingham. After looking it up a bit more, I decided to contact Katie who is based in Leamington, and work through the 8 week mindfulness course with her. Before we started Katie sent out all the information I needed via e-mail. Not only is she kind, inspiring and non-judgemental, she really catered the course to my needs. My mobility is not good at all, so she held the sessions over Skype, and was very understanding. I loved hearing about how mindfulness had impacted the lives of her clients, and it inspired me to really throw myself into the course. Katie is easy to talk to, a fantastic listener, and I really looked forwards to each of my sessions with her. Over the course of the 8 weeks, I have learned a lot about myself as a person, as well as different coping mechanisms that will stay with me for life.
When I booked an 8 week Mindfulness course with Katie I intended to overcome a bereavement. However the programme guided by her wonderful calm and enlightened approach gave me a much wider insight into other anxieties I was shelving. For about 3-4 years I have suffered from quite severe anxiety at times, however recently it had started to creep in to day to day life more frequently. I tried numerous different treatments over the past few years, from seeing my GP to visiting a number of different therapists. However I found that even though at the time, each of these treatments tended to work, I found that the same feelings of anxiety would creep back in after a period of time.
It was at this point my partner pointed me in the direction of Katie and a course in mindfulness and meditation. I was sceptical at first, with regards to doing meditation, as I couldn't really see how this would clear my anxiety. However, as I moved through the weeks of the course, I noticed myself changing and instead of constantly being stuck in the past and focusing on past experiences, which tended to trigger my anxiety, I learnt to ignore this and to stay in the here and now and fully embrace my surroundings, whilst adopting the mind frame of looking ahead rather than behind. It was probably after week 6 when I really had my eureka moment and noticed a significant change. Now I feel that I have my anxiety, for the majority of the time, under control and when it does creep back in, I have plenty of exercises and meditations in order to make sure it disappears just as quickly as it arrived.
My recommendation to anyone thinking of doing the course, is to make sure you fully embrace the 8 week program and make sure you do the weekly meditations to the full and hopefully then you will experience the same change that I have. Katie has been a great support throughout the course, with both her expert knowledge and experiences she has been able to share with me. I can't thank Katie enough for what she has done for me and for my sense of well-being.

I came to Katie's practice as someone who had dabbled in meditation and other forms of self-care but who'd never been taught it properly.
During our initial consultation, she suggested that many of the issues I described to her (among which were prominent self-doubts and difficulty letting go of external pressures regarding my career) might be lessened through meditative practice, which she teaches. The course would take place over 8 weeks and teach me how to breathe, meditate, and shift my thinking towards a less reactionary mode.
The structure closely follows that outlined in the book Katie uses in her class (Mindfulness : Finding peace in a frantic world), and from which a chapter is assigned as reading and accompaniment to the daily practice between classes.
During the sessions, Katie sat down with me, discussing the experience I'd had practicing on my own, and then went through the new meditation with me. Having her there to talk things through was really helpful, as I could ask questions about the meditation practice, figure out what best to focus on each week, and talk through how the practice was affecting my overall mood.
If you're a learn-by-doing person like me, I really recommend having someone teach you meditation step by step rather than learning it from a book. I can really recommend this class: Katie is kind and patient, and takes your progress towards wellbeing seriously.
